For most of my life, I built a life that looked successful on the outside. I built a successful career across startups, technology, and product leadership. I earned an Ivy League master’s degree, held senior leadership roles, drove meaningful business impact, owned a beautiful home, drove the nice car, and achieved many of the things people are taught to chase. From the outside, I had everything. But internally, I was not free.

I was living from expectation, fear, and survival rather than truth, love, and authenticity. I had spent years building a version of myself that was impressive, but not fully honest. I came out as bisexual later in life, in my late 30s, and for a long time I carried deep pain, anger, and resentment toward my parents. I blamed them for the “false life” I felt I had been living. I had success, but I did not have peace. I had accomplishments, but I did not feel whole.

After being laid off from my role as a Senior Director of Product Development at a major consulting company, everything I had been suppressing finally came to the surface. I entered one of the darkest periods of my life, questioning my purpose, identity, and whether I even wanted to continue. What felt like a breaking point ultimately became the beginning of my awakening.
